Bulgarian Agrarian National Union "Aleksandar Stamboliyski"

Founded in Nov. 1993 by agrarian leaders, who rejected the decisions of the restoration congress of Bulgarian Agrarian National Union of Nov. 1992. The platform of the party encompasses the 25 ideas and principles defined by Aleksandar Stamboliyski.
BANU "Aleksandar Stamboliyski" is a party of the political center. The Union supports open and socially oriented market economy, priority of the development of agriculture and food industry, socially just privatization. In Nov. 1994, BANU "Aleksandar Stamboliyski" signed a political agreement with BSP and the Political Club "Ecoglasnost" for participation in the elections for the 37th National Assembly and for a common parliamentary group. Mr Shivarov, chair of BANU "Aleksandar Stamboliyski", refused to put his signature to renew the coalition Democratic Left before April 19, 1997 parliamentary elections. Nevertheles the party has an agreement with BSP and PC "Ecoglasnost" which they didn't denounced.
The Second National Conference of BANU "Aleksandar Stamboliyski" of Apr. 1995 grew into the 37th regular congress.
Party colour - orange. Party emblems - four-leafed clover and the portrait of Al. Stamboliyski. Governing bodies: congress, governing council, standing committee of 14 members, control council.
Since its foundation, chair of the party has been Mr Svetoslav Shivarov.
