Born on Nov. 8, 1948 in Sofia. Married, has one son and one daughter.

Completed the English language high school in Sofia 1966. Graduated from the University for National and World Economy - Sofia, 1972. Reporter and senior reporter in the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency 1972-85. Commentator in the Bulgarian National Radio 1985-87. Editor-in-chief in the Bulgarian National Television (BNTV) 1987-91. Director of the "News" Office in the BNTV 1991-92. Director general of the BNTV 1992-93. Produced a number of documentary films and TV broadcasts. Chair of the Board of Managers of "Democracy" Agency since 1993. Member of the Editorial Council of "Demokratsiya" daily since 1995. Member of the American Academy of Political Sciences since 1992. Chair of the National Academic Foundation since 1991. Member of the Christian Democratic Union (within UDF) since 1990. Chairman of the CDU during 1993-Dec. 1996 and since Feb. 1997. Member of the National Coordination Council of UDF since 1993, deputy chair 1993-94. MP (elected in Stara Zagora) in the 37th National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of UDF). Deputy chair of the Committee on Foreign Policy in the 37th National Assembly. Member of the Bulgarian Parliament delegation in the North-Atlantic Assembly.
