Completed high school in Gotse Delchev 1965. Graduated from the University for Mining and Geology in Sofia 1972, and the Academy for Social Sciences in Moscow 1990. Research associate in the University for Mining and Geology in Sofia 1972-73. Secretary and first secretary of the Regional Committee of the Dimitrov's Comsomol Youth Union (DKMS) in Blagoevgrad 1973-79. Secretary of the Central Committee of DKMS 1979-85. Secretary of the Kolarov's Regional Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party in Sofia 1985-87. Chairman of the Executive Committee/Mayor of Nadejda municipality in Sofia 1987-90. Deputy chair of the Central Council of the Bulgarian Union for Physical Education and Sports. Member of the Army Councils of Frontier and Internal Troops.
