Born on May 16, 1921 in Sofia. Married, has two children.
Graduated in Law from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". Research associate at the Economic Institute within the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences 1956-65. International officer in Geneva 1965-71. Senior advisor in the State Council 1971-82. Worked in the Central Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party 1982-84. Head of the "Sociology of Labor" section at the Institute of Sociology within the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences 1971-88. Ph.D. in Philosophy. Professor of Philosophy. Lecturer in sociology at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". Deputy chair of the International Council of Social Sciences of UNESCO. Member of the Club for Glasnost and Restructuring 1988-89.
Member of BSP since 1948. Expelled from BSP in 1988 and rehabilitated in 1989. Member of the Supreme Council of BSP since 1990. Deputy chair of the Supreme Council of BSP 1990-91. Chair of the Society for Social Democracy (ideological movement in BSP). MP (elected in Varna) in the 7th Grand National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of BSP). Deputy chair of the Committee on Demographic Problems in the 7th Grand National Assembly. MP (elected in Burgas) in the 36th National Assembly (Parliamentary Union for Social Democracy).
