Ivan Milkov KURTEV


Born on March 19, 1936 in Lyubimets, Haskovo district. Married, has one daughter.

Completed high school in Sofia 1954. Interned for political reasons 1957-61. Graduated in Pedagogy from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" 1967. Worked in "Sovbolstroy" 1952. Worked as a dispatcher in "Plod i zhelenchuk" 1954. Teacher at a school for retarded children in the village of Rudartsi 1957. Teacher at a school for deaf children in Plovdiv 1959. Instructor and rehabilitation therapist in the Central Council of the Union of Deaf People 1963. Rehabilitation therapist in a school for deaf children in Sofia 1982.

Member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP, within UDF) since 1989. Secretary of the Bulgarian Social Democratic Party organization in "Lozenets" municipality - Sofia 1990-91. Chair of the National Committee of the SDP since 1991. Member of the National Coordination Council of UDF since 1991. Secretary general of UDF 1992-94. Chair of the Interim Executive Committee of "Lozenets" municipality - Sofia 1990-91. MP (elected in Sofia) in the 36th National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of UDF). MP (elected in Sofia) in the 37th National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of UDF). Deputy chair of the 37th National Assembly.
