Aleksandar Vasilev LILOV

Born on Aug. 31, 1933 in the village of Granichak, Belogradchik municipality, Montana district. Married, has one son and one daughter.

Completed high school in Belogradchik 1951. Graduate in Bulgarian Philology from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", and in Aesthetics from the Academy for Social Sciences in Moscow. Post-graduate studies in Moscow and London. Ph.D. in Philosophy 1969 and 1981. Professor in Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" 1984. Corresponding member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences since 1988. Member of the Society of Aesthetic People. Member of the Union of Hunters and Fishermen in Bulgaria. Secretary of a regional committee, a district committee, and the Central Committee of Dimitrov's Comsomol Youth Union until 1965. Post-graduate studies 1966-69.

Member of BSP. Secretary of the Central Committee and member of Politbureau of the Central Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party 1972-83. Member of the State Council 1976-90. Director of the Institute for Modern Social Theories 1983-89. Member of the Supreme Council of BSP since 1990. Chair of the Supreme Council of BSP 1990-91. Director of the Center for Strategic Studies since 1991. MP in the 30th (1962-65), 32nd (1971-76), 33rd (1976-81), and 34th (1981-86) National Assemblies. MP (elected in Vidin) in the 7th Grand National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of BSP). MP (elected in Blagoevgrad) in the 36th National Assembly (Parliamentary Union for Social Democracy). MP (elected in Stara Zagora) in the 37th National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Left).

Publications: "The Nature of Artistic Work" 1979, "Imagination and Creativity" 1986, "Europe - to Be or Not to Be" 1985, "Europe - Dialogue and Cooperation" 1988, over 100 scientific articles in the field of aesthetics and politology.
