Atanas Atansov PAPARIZOV

Born on July 5, 1951 in Sofia. Married, has one son.

Completed the English language high school in Sofia 1970. Graduated in International Economic Relations from Moscow State University for International Relations 1977. Took a commercial policy course in GATT, Geneva, Switzerland 1979.

Member of BSP. Member of the Supreme Council of BSP since 1991. Chief of section (1977-84), chief of office (1984-87), director general of office (1987-90) and head of department in the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations. Deputy Minister (1990) and Minister of Foreign Economic Relations 1990-91. MP (elected in Shumen) in the 36th National Assembly (Parliamentary Union for Social Democracy). Chair of the sub-committee on foreign policy in the 36th National Assembly. MP (elected in Shumen) in the 37th National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Left) 1995-Jan.1996. Chair of the Economic Committee in the 37th National Assembly 1995-Jan.1996. Member of the Bulgarian Parliament delegation for Relations with the European Parliament 1995-Jan.1996. Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Cooperation Jan. 1996-Feb. 1997.

Awards: a golden medal for distinguished results in secondary school, diploma for distinguished results from his university.
