Lyuben Yordanov PETROV

Born on Apr. 22, 1938 in the village of Elenovo, Blagoevgrad municipality, Sofia district. Married, has two children.

Graduated from "V. Levski" Military School in Veliko Tarnovo, the "Frunze" Military Academy, and the Military Academy of the General Headquarters of Russia in Moscow. Occupied command positions in the Bulgarian Army. Commander of a tank battalion, Commander of the First Army. Head of the General Headquarters of the Bulgarian Army 1991-94. Army general in the reserve.

Member of the All-national Committee for Protection of National Interests. MP (elected in Pleven) in the 37th National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Left). Chair of the Committee on National Security May 1996-Feb. 1997.
