Dragomir Georgiev SHOPOV


Born on Aug. 13, 1938 in Sofia. Married.

Completed high school in Sofia 1956. Graduated in Bulgarian Philology from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" 1965. Editor and editor-in-chief in the Bulgarian National Radio. Deputy editor-in-chief and editor-in-chief of "Zemedelsko zname" newspaper 1974-90. Editor of "Az-buki" newspaper. Member of the Union of Bulgarian Writers. Member of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists. Deputy chair of the Bulgarian Anti-fascist Union since 1994. Deputy chair of the Committee on Human Rights since 1995.

Member of BANU since 1969. Candidate member of the Governing Council of BZNS 1987-88. Member of the Governing Council of BZNS 1989-90. Member of the Standing Committee of BZNS 1990. Member of the Executive Council and spokesperson of BZNS-Aleksandar Stamboliyski 1993-95. Secretary of the Standing Committee of BZNS-Aleksandar Stamboliyski since 1995. Municipal councilor in Sofia for four mandates. MP (elected in Blagoevgrad) in the 37th National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Left). Deputy chair of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Left.

Publications: poetry collections - "The Winds Have no Age", "Grass and Snow", "What I Remember from the Day", "Chronicle of the Beginning", "Before I Tie Myself", "Air for a Song", "For a Long Time Here", "Unlocked Door", "Wounded Time"; publicistics - "Let's not Lie to Life".
