Aleksandar Trifonov TOMOV


Born on Apr. 27, 1954 in Sofia. Married, has two daughters.

Completed high school in Sofia 1972. Graduated in Economics from St. Petersburg State University, Russia 1978. Ph.D. in Economics 1982. Associate professor in Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski" since 1990. Member of the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 1993. Member of the board and director general of “21 Vek” foundation since 1993. Member of the Board of Directors of “East-West Studies”. Member of the Board of Directors of the Institute for the Study of the Future.

Deputy chairman of the Supreme Council of BSP 1991-92. Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria 1990-91. Chairman of the Civil Association for the Republic since its foundation in 1993. Chairman of the Democratic Alternative for the Republic coalition since 1995. MP (elected in Montana) in the 7th Grand National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of BSP). Chief of the Sub-committee for Privatization of the Economic Committee in the 7th Grand National Assembly. MP (elected in Sofia) in the 36th National Assembly (Parliamentary Union for Social Democracy).

Publications: “The Fourth Civilization” and two more books.
