Ibrahim Tosun TATARLA


Born on Feb. 26, 1925 in Nikopol, Lovech district. Married, has two daughters.

Completed high school in Nikopol 1946. Graduated in Law from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski", and in Turkish Literature and Culture from the Institute for Eastern Languages in Moscow 1965. Ph.D. in Philology 1994. Editor-in-chief of “Eylulcu cocuk” newspaper 1950-53. Head of the “Culture” department and member of the editorial board of “Yeni hayat” magazine 1954-62. Part-time lecturer, lecturer and associate professor at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski" 1975. Senior research associate 1st rank at the Institute for Balkan Studies of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences 1981-90. Professor at the Islamic Institute in Sofia 1990.

Member of MRF since 1990. Member of the Transnational Radical Party. MP (elected in Isperih single-member electoral district) in the 7th Grand National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of MRF). MP (elected in Burgas) in the 36th National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of MRF). Deputy chair of the Committee on Culture in the 36th National Assembly. MP (elected in Burgas) in the 37th National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of MRF). Deputy chair of the Committee on Human Rights in the 37th National Assembly.
