Vladimir Vladimirov TOPENCHAROV


Born on July 15, 1933 in Sofia. Widowed, has one son.

Completed high school in Sofia. Graduated in Machine Engineering from the Technical University of Sofia 1957, and in Mathematics from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski" 1965. Post-graduate studies in Paris 1962-63. Ph.D. in Engineering 1963. Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Technical University of Dresden, 1983. Assistant professor and associate professor at the Technical University of Sofia 1957-64. Professor at the Technical University of Sofia since 1969. Deputy dean at the Technical University of Sofia 1963-64. Associate professor at the university of Dijon, France 1965-67. Director of the Research Institute for Education 1969-71. Director of the Center for Applied Mathematics at the Technical University of Sofia 1971-81. Senior consultant at the State Council 1972-81. Head of department in the Technical University of Sofia 1972-92. Guest lecturer in different universities in Algeria, France, Yugoslavia, Germany, Morocco, China, and Russia.

Member of BSP since 1954. Member of the Supreme Council of BSP. Member of the Executive Bureau of the Supreme Council of BSP 1994-96. MP (elected in Montana) in the 37th National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of the Democratic Left).

Publications: scientific articles in the field of kinematics, general mechanics, theory of categories, and problems of the education.

Awards: order “Cyril and Methodius” 1st class 1986, Honorary Title in the area of Education 1988.
