Graduated in Law from Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. Ph.D. in Law from Leipzig University, Germany. Attorney. Collaborator to the Legislative Council in the Ministry of Justice. Senior research associate of criminal law at the Institute for the State and Law of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences 1981-88. Member of the Executive Bureau and spokesperson of the Committee on Human Rights. Chairman of the Committee on Human Rights. Chairman of the Bulgarian Antifascist Union. Chairman of the international foundation "Georgi Dimitrov".
