Aleksandar YORDANOV Aleksandrov


Born on Feb. 13, 1952 in Varna. Married, has one son and one daughter.

Completed high school in Varna 1970. Graduated in Bulgarian Philology from Shumen University "Constantin Preslavski" 1976. Post-graduate studies at the Institute for Slavic Studies in Jagelo University in Krakow, Poland 1986. Ph.D. in Philology 1985. Research associate 1st rank 1986. Editor in "Sofiyski novini" newspaper 1978-79. Post-graduate studies in the Institute for Literature of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences 1979-83. Expert and research associate in the Institute for Literature of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences 1983-90. Editor-in-chief of "Vek 21" newspaper since 1990.

Member of the Radical and Democratic Party (RDP, within UDF) since 1989. Deputy chair of the RDP 1989-93. Chair of the RDP since 1993. Deputy chair of the National Coordination Council of UDF 1992-93. MP (elected in Varna) in the 7th Grand National Assembly (Parliamentary UDF). Spokesperson of the Parliamentary UDF in the 7th Grand National Assembly. MP (elected in Varna) in the 36th National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of UDF). Chair of the Parliamentary Group of UDF in the 36th National Assembly 1991-92. Chair of the Committee on Foreign Policy in the 36th National Assembly 1991-92. Chair of the 36th National Assembly 1992-94. MP (elected in Varna) in the 37th National Assembly (Parliamentary Group of UDF).
